QNX on iWave's RZ/G1H SOM

Introducing yet another remarkable development on an embedded platform that utilizes QNX 7.0 RTOS for achieving highly efficient real-time computing in mission-critical applications

iWave Systems revealed yet another remarkable development on embedded platforms, realized by the powerful Renesas RZ/G1H SoC-based SOM that is targeted at achieving highly complex graphics and image processing in real-time applications.

To achieve high-speed real-time processing, we have ported the RZ/G1H SoC SOM with the highly advanced QNX 7.0 RTOS. This UNIX like RTOS is the most advanced and secured Embedded OS developed till date. The QNX development platform combines exceptional real-time computing (64-bit), advanced kernel and system-level security, and proven industry safety certification standards that enable high-level system performance and accuracy in mission-critical industrial, automotive, and medical applications. The Renesas RZ/G1H SOM with the QNX 7.0 RTOS offers an ultra-powerful computing platform capable of rendering exceptional performance and efficiency in real-time applications.

Big Idea in a Small Package

 RZ/G1H SoC SoM

iWave’s Qseven compatible Renesas RZ/G1H SOM is an excellent platform for realizing the high-performance graphics-rich multimedia requirements of your design. The high-spec SOM integrates the powerful quad-core Arm® Cortex®-A15 (1.4 GHz) and quad-core Arm® Cortex®-A7 (780 MHz) CPUs, a DDR interface with two 32-bit DDR3 channels, PowerVR G6400 @ 520 MHz graphics engine, and built-in dual-channel full HD encode & decode multimedia codecs. The SOM features eMMC Flash, Micro SD slot, USB HUB, HDMI transmitter, and Gigabit Ethernet PHY along with other interfaces for peripheral functions like up to four-channel video input, high-speed USB 3.0, PCI Express, SATA interfaces, etc. iWave’s customers gets to benefit the dual Ethernet and dual CAN interfaces support that form key attraction of RZ/G1H QNX platform.

One step ahead with QNX 7.0 RTOS:

Some of the key advantages:

  • Its true microkernel architecture ensures minimal RAM usage which in turn provides exceptional real-time processing performance.
  • The QNX kernel rarely crashes, making it a highly stable platform for mission-critical applications.
  • Inter-Process Communication is fast and effective providing seamless and high-speed data transfer.
  • Features extremely robust and advanced GUI development tool kit.
  • Easy to use due to its Linux-like development environment/commands.
  • Supports multiple network services (SSH, TCP/IP, UDP…)

Porting of QNX 7.0.0 on RZ/G1H custom platform:

Porting of the QNX 7.0.0 to our RZ/G1H custom platform includes driver porting, driver developments, unit test application development, testing phases, etc. iWave’s vast expertise in Bootloaders, as well as experience in various operating systems like Linux, QNX, and Free RTOS helped the team successfully develop the QNX drivers for hardware interfaces.  Development of the Unit Test Applications for interfaces allowed us to further optimize the QNX platform as per customer requirements. iWave’s strong partnership with Renesas and QNX helped to fasten up the porting/development activity. Our dedicated team of testing engineers’ well- executed the testing phase and helped the team provide bug-free deliverables to the customer on time.

Benefits by choosing iWave for QNX Platform

  • Recognized skills and know-how with QNX platforms
